Tyler, TX Homes for Sale & Real Estate

The Rose Capital of America is East Texas’s hub for shopping, healthcare and higher education, with neighborhoods for every stage of life.

Living in Tyler

The hub of East Texas

Tyler is the center of the region: the Smith County seat, home to about 112,000 people, both of East Texas’s major hospital systems, Tyler Junior College and UT Tyler. Most of the area’s jobs, healthcare and shopping are here, with the surrounding towns an easy drive away.

It’s also the Rose Capital of America. The Tyler Rose Garden covers 14 acres downtown, and the Texas Rose Festival fills the city every October.

In Tyler, the zip code is the first question, not the last. The same budget buys very different homes in 75701 (the historic core, with character homes), 75703 (the south growth corridor) and 75704 or 75706 (acreage and rural edges). Leslie helps you narrow that down before you start touring.

Schools

Tyler ISD and its neighbors

Tyler ISD serves most of the city, with about 18,850 students across 26 campuses, including Tyler Legacy High School and Tyler High School.

Check the district by address. The Tyler area is split among Tyler ISD, Chapel Hill ISD, Whitehouse ISD and Lindale ISD at the edges, and two houses a street apart can feed different districts. Look up current accountability ratings on TXschools.gov. We link the ratings rather than repeat them; they change every year, and how a school fits your needs is your call.

Property taxes

Your bill comes from Smith County, the school district for the address, the City of Tyler (inside limits) and the Tyler Junior College district. See current rates.

Getting around

Loop 323 and South Broadway carry most daily traffic, and Toll 49 lets you skip the loop. Most in-town commutes are under 20 minutes.
