Mineola, TX Homes for Sale & Real Estate

A historic railroad town with an Amtrak stop and a 2,911-acre nature preserve, 26 miles north of Tyler.

Living in Mineola

Historic downtown, an Amtrak stop and room to roam

Mineola sits where US-69 meets US-80 in Wood County, 26 miles north of Tyler. The 2020 Census counted 4,823 people. It’s one of the few East Texas towns with passenger rail: Amtrak’s Texas Eagle stops at the depot downtown.

Downtown is on the National Register of Historic Places, with 88 properties built between 1885 and 1960, plus Iron Horse Square, the Select Theater and the Beckham Hotel. On the edge of town, the 2,911-acre Mineola Nature Preserve along the Sabine River has more than 20 miles of trails, fishing ponds and some of the best birding in the region.

A lot of homes near downtown are older, and that’s much of their charm. Plan on a thorough inspection and budget for what it finds. The rail line that brings Amtrak also carries freight trains, so it’s worth visiting a street at a few different times of day before you commit. Leslie can walk you through both.

We link the ratings rather than repeat them; they change every year, and how a school fits your needs is your call.

Property taxes

Your bill comes from Wood County, Mineola ISD and the City of Mineola (inside limits only). See current rates.
